Our nurse will lead you to a comfortable, private or semi-private treatment area. You can settle into a plush reclining chair, and we’ll offer you water or tea to enjoy during your session. The goal is for you to feel completely at ease.
Step 3: The IV Insertion (The Quick Part)
This is the part people often worry about, but it’s very quick. For your first time getting an IV, here’s what happens:
- Our highly experienced nurse will select the best vein, usually on the inside of your elbow.
- They will clean the area thoroughly with an antiseptic wipe.
- You will then feel a small, sharp pinch as the tiny needle guides a flexible, soft catheter into the vein. The sensation is very similar to having a blood test and lasts only a second.
- The needle is immediately removed, leaving only the soft catheter in place.
